Okemo Mountain Resort and the surrounding area is the outdoor enthusiasts dream come true.
The wintertime brings exceptional Vermont skiing and snowboarding on snow that is known as one of the best skiing and riding surfaces in the East year after year. While other mountains talk a big game, we've proven that it takes a lot of pipe, water and power - with highly trained, completely dedicated teams at the reins - to make it happen.
Mad River Glen became one of Vermont’s first major ski areas when the Single Chair began carrying skiers to the top of General Stark Mountain in 1948. From the very beginning, Mad River Glen has been unique, a place where skiing is a sport not an industry, working with nature not against it. Mad River Glen began a new era in 1995 when its skiers came together to form the Mad River Glen Cooperative. The Cooperative works to fulfill a simple mission:
“… to forever protect the classic Mad River Glen skiing experience by preserving low skier density, natural terrain and forests, varied trail character, and friendly community atmosphere for the benefit of shareholders, area personnel and patrons.”
Jay Peak Resort is located in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Its vertical drop of 2,153 feet is the eight largest in New England and the fifth largest in Vermont. The resort is just 4 miles south of the Canada-US boarder above which is the Province of Quebec.
The resort opened for skiing in 1957, and it now includes year-round activities. The mountain offers 78 trails served by nine lifts. It receives the most snowfall of any ski area in the North East.
